The Playlist announces that Hark Tsui, who was director for Once Upon a Time in China, will team again for a remake of the famous martial arts movie of 1967, Dragon Inn, this time titled The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate. What is expected ... Dragon Inn remake project will be realized in 3D mode.
Hark seems completely fascinated by the 1967 original, because in 1992 he wrote and produced another remake, with Tony Leung, Maggie Chan and Donnie Yen in distribution.
Sunday, October 10, near Beijing, began filming The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate, directed by Tsui Hark, Jet Li starring, said a representative of Bona International Film Festival Group in Pusan. Production with a budget of $ 35 million, is a 3D remake of a classic martial arts film, Dragon Gate Inn (1967) by King Hu, who inspired the international hit films such as Tiger and Dragon (2000) and Ang Lee flying swords House (2004) by Zhang Yimou.
Chinese star Jet Li and famous director-producer Hark Tsui Hong have supported each other in the early '90s, working on popular movies such as Once Upon a Time in China (1991) and Once Upon a Time in China 2 (1992). The two work together again after 18 years. In 1992, Tsui Hark produced Dragon Inn, another remake of King Hu film, directed by Raymond Lee and starring Tony Leung distribution, Brigitte Lin, Maggie Cheung and Donnie Yen. In the new film, with launch scheduled for next year's Christmas period, Jet Li is a general of Ming Dynasty, which is facing a power-hungry eunuch, played by Chen Kun.
Filming takes place in a desert located two hours from Beijing, where Jet Li also starred in the Hollywood blockbuster The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) by Rob Cohen.
Official release date for The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate is set for 22 December 2011 in China, Hong Kong and Singapore and could be released in USA in 2012.
